Club Youth Volunteer at Marcy's Project

On November 21 and 22, O'Fallon Unit and St. Charles Unit Junior Youth of the Year Participants volunteered at Marcy's Project, which provides aid to those in crisis or emergency situations in the St. Charles County Area.

Junior Youth of the Year seeks to develop junior leaders ages 10-13 within the Club environment. The program recognizes the current leadership achievements of Club youth and cultivates their leadership potential, providing the foundation they need for advanced leadership development, academic excellence and postsecondary success. Each year, Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation honor one local youth as the Junior Youth of the Year.

Eight Club members prepared stockings for Marcy’s Holiday Market and filled each stocking with hygiene items, socks, snacks, candy, and a small toy. They enjoyed picking thoughtful, age-appropriate items based on the information they were given for each child.

Locally sponsored by Greensfelder Attorneys at Law and nationally sponsored by Toyota, Kohls, and Mondelez International, the Junior Youth of the Year program provides opportunities for local youth to gain essential career and life skills and increase their confidence. Through community service field trips such as this, Club youth become motivated to seek opportunities for leadership and to act as responsible citizens and change agents.
